The Fortress

The Fortress of Solitude was a place for Superman to reflect, to be alone and unseen.  His place to isolate from people and the world.

Many of us have created what I call, the Fortress of Solitude or energetic walls around ourselves.  These are walls that we have imposed upon ourselves to stay safe.

These walls keep out all the bad stuff, so we are not hurt in life.  These walls keep all the people out that have hurt us in our past.  These walls stop us from experiencing what we fear- more emotional pain.

It’s wise to reflect and isolate at times.  But to live our lives in The Fortress of Solitude is not wise or happy living.

A book I read once mentioned a spirit guide who had wanted to share with their student what all their fears did to them.  The student saw themself as a huge bundle of tiny, spider-like threads tying this person’s arms and legs up!  Self-inflicted energetic walls.

Energetic walls/ Fortress of Solitude.

These energetic walls can be seen and felt by some people.

I believe a person’s fear of being emotionally hurt can cause this.

Many of our emotional hurts occurred while being a child.  We did not know how to cope with the local bully.  Or we did not know how to cope with a grumpy uncle or aunt!

And so, we pushed these old, hurtful memories down, deep inside of us.  To help us cope, we also built our own Fortress of Solitudes.

To help ourselves heal these areas in our lives and to break-free from each emotional pain memory we have, we need to:

·       Observe our hurt/emotional pain from a unjudgmental space.

·       Understand the hurt/emotional pain that we perceive.

·       Ask our Inner child, “What does he/she need to heal this hurt?” Wait for the answer to come intuitively or by a feeling.

·       Find compassion for yourself and the other person involved.

Remember, all people are just doing the best they can in life.  To help you find compassion, realize the other person involved is coming from their own inner emotional pain.  They projected their inner emotional pain on to you.  You may have been triggered because you also have a related inner emotional pain that is unhealed as well.

·       Forgive yourself and the other person.

I know when I first was studying Usui Reiki, I became highly interested in my Level 2, Emotional Healing.

I guess my intrigue was due to being an empath.  Empaths feel others’ emotional pain besides their own, energetically.

When I first started to provide Reiki energy to people and myself, I was amazed at how the Reiki energy was able to break old emotional pain free from our bodies, allowing it to bubble up to the surface of our minds.

Here, the client needs to sit with the emotional memory, feel it, allow it to “be”, and let it go.   Otherwise, the emotional pain memory will sink back down where it was encapsulated.

In the years of being a Reiki practitioner, I have seen how emotional pain can cause a person to become less than themselves.  The dis-ease that occurs causes a lot of problems for the person. People were meant to live in harmony and balance.

If you need help locating and releasing emotional pain, don’t hesitate to ask for assistance by receiving a Reiki session.

Letting go of old emotional baggage is healing. Letting go of old emotional baggage is new- found freedom.

So, what will you do?

Will you remain in your Fortress of Solitude, isolating from all the beauty and wonders of the world and people?

Or will you find that courage that is sitting deep inside of you, bring it into your conscious mind and use it to face each fear and emotional pain you have and heal them?

Prison or Freedom?

It’s your choice.  It’s always been your choice.

I have used all procedures I have written about and have found them to be helpful as tools to help myself become a better person.   I am sharing them with you because used as a tool, they are helpful in Shadow working on ourselves.  (Shadow working is healing our inner shadows that are unconscious or subconscious.  Inner shadows are our belief systems, our thoughts, our behaviors, our life experiences.)

I created this blog for my Reiki clients originally.  Combining these tools with Reiki creates a happy, healthy person.  These tools, when used alone are also beneficial!
